. they really can't. i think joe biden is in a stronger position because he has spent a lot of time, four years, defending, explaining and making the case for barack obama whereas paul ryan is in an awkward position. he's going to defend, make the case to mitt romney whom he has basically been joined to the hip at six weeks ago. and you know, he's got the whole independent political identity himself. i mean biden obama as a team at this point. but i think that the president, is just going to forget the first debate and be ready in the second one to make his case. and to engage. he wasn't ingauged. if you turn down the sound on wednesday night and just watch those two people, he is did not look happy to be there. and mitt romney did. >> what about the vice president, are the expectations now raised, as mark says. >> i think so. >> in part there is a little more pressure on joe biden because as mark said he has to do well. and hyperactive joe biden is a high risk proposition. it could turn out well and i happen to think he's pretty good debater. de well, i thought against sarah palin. de well whe

biden and paul ryan's image. ryan generally, generally has a better image than paul ryan. if joe biden is the answer i don't know what -- want to know what the question is. look, senior citizens, republicans -- the nice thing is we have had decades of dealing with democratic demagoguery on seniors issues whether it be social security or medicare or both. so look we are well aware -- the first stage in a democratic campaign plan is minority turnout plan. the first page and the republicans is, how do we make sure we don't get heard among senior citizens so this is something our campaigns are very aware of. we have messages that we have tested in response. yes it is effective. you test a democratic attack versus a republican response attack and basically it plays to a tie so i don't think it's going to be the game-changer for the house that the democrats you know, think that it is. the one thing to keep an eye on actually more than cedar citizens on this issue are near seniors, those 55 to 64 years old. seniors are getting medicare and getting social security. they know that the rug is no

in los angeles and he is very good and hillary clinton i thought was a better debater and ironically joe biden and chris dodd did really well and the president obviously got the democratic nomination. he is a very solid debater. i moderate rated four republican presidential debates with mitt romney and i have the same feeling about him. very solid. knows his stuff. these will be really good debates. they both know their stuff and i am looking forward to it and i am not lowering or raising anybody's expectations. i think the challenge will be on both to get the job done 90 minutes. there are strict rules as you know next wednesday night, how long they can speak and rebuttle and what the moderators can do if you will and so it will be good. it will be good television. i think the undecided voters ll get a better chance. >> i you what. i got to make sure viewers know that it is not just mitt romney's camp th beenoi this, that president obama's camp has lowered skpp stations as well saying that, look, mitt romney's had the primary season. he is seasoned. he has been practicing. they're both
